Our Studio

In 2021 Scenic Painters moved out of Surrey to Gloucestershire. Our studio is in Wickwar, a village a few miles north east of Bristol. The studio is about 950 square feet, and gives plenty of space to teach six students, even with covid distancing if needed. The space forms part of an old ceramics factory which is now home to a number of businesses including a TV props company and carpentry workshop.

The Village and Accommodation

Wickwar is a village of about 2000 people situated between the small Gloucestershire towns of Yate and Wotton Under Edge. A regular bus service connects all three places. From Yate you can get trains to Bristol and further afield. The village has a coffee shop and a village pub, the Buthay Inn. (The Buthay Inn offers our students favourable rates for en suite accommodation so please mention that you are attending one of our courses if you speak to them.)

Wotton Under Edge has shops and cafes, restaurants and a small arts centre. The area is great for walking with fine views across the Severn valley.

Granary Cottages are a group of converted farm buildings near Wickwar. Would best suit students with their own transport but we have had students stay here without, as you can walk to the Wotton to Yate bus stop. It's also an easy bike ride and the hosts have a bike shed you can use. There is a range of accommodation on offer and good rates for our students on longer courses.
There are some reasonably priced B and B options in the area. (The ones listed below are all on or the bus route.)
